Apr. 7, 2009 (China Knowledge) – Cheah Cheng Hye, the co-founder of Value Partners, reduced his shareholdings in BYD Co Ltd (BYD)<1211> to 4.56% from 5.09%.

According to statistics released by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEx), Cheah sold approximately 2.99 million shares in BYD at around HK$14.21 apiece on Mar. 31.

BYD, China’s largest rechargeable batteries maker as well as automobile producer, said its net profit decreased 37% year on year to RMB 1.021 billion in 2008, mainly dragged by the decline of its mobile phone battery business, rising material spending and RMB appreciation, the China Knowledge reported earlier.

Shares of BYD fell 1.83% to close at HK$15 on Monday.
