Nov. 6, 2008 (China Knowledge) – The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s top economic planner, has given nod to the construction proposal of the first cross-provincial coalbed methane (CBM) pipeline, sources reported.
The 98.2-kilometer pipeline will transmit coal bed methane from the Qinshui basin of Shanxi province in north China to Boai county of Henan province in central China, as per industry sources.
The coal bed methane pipeline is designed to have a capacity of transmit 1 billion cubic meters per year upon completion. A total investment of the project is about RMB 458 million. However, no timetable of the project is available at present.
NDRC said in a statement the project will promote the development of coal bed methane in the Qinshui basin and help boost gas supply in areas along the channel.
